Biography
On April 4, 1965, Robert Downey was born in Manhattan, New York to Robert Downey, Sr. and Elsie, who he was named after. His father is renowned for his role as a film maker, actor, writer, and director, and his mother was an actress. Acting was something Downey was involved in from a young age. He appeared in his father’s film ‘Pound’ for the first time, portraying a puppy. Due to his father being a drug addict, Downey was exposed to drugs throughout his childhood.He appeared in the movie ‘Greaser’s Palace’ at the age of 7 and then moved to England to study classical ballet.
Downey Jr. went to different schools, including Santa Monica High School, but opted to pursue acting full-time after dropping out.
